The Cotime bot connects your Discord server to a Cotime Space — a persistent lobby that
belongs to your community. Once it's set up, anyone can type /play in your
server to kick off a game without leaving Discord.
What the bot does
Someone types /play drawma in your gaming channel. The bot posts a link.
People in the channel click it, pick a name, and they're in the lobby in seconds. No one
has to go find the Cotime URL, no one has to @mention specific people — the channel does
the work.
The bot also handles the "who's free tonight?" problem. When a game starts, the notification lands in the channel and anyone who wants in can join.
Setup
- Add the bot to your server. Go to app.cotime.eu, log in, create a Space for your community, and connect your Discord server from the Space settings.
-
Link your server. In Discord, run
/linkin the channel you want the bot to post in. This connects the channel to your Cotime Space. -
Start a game. Type
/play(optionally followed by a game name like/play drawma) and the bot posts a joinable link. Done.
Available commands
/play — Start a game. Optionally specify which game (/play drawma, /play contrails, etc.). If no game is specified, the lobby opens and
your group picks together.
/link — Link this channel to your Cotime Space. Run it in the channel you
want notifications to appear in.
/unlink — Remove the connection between this server and Cotime.
What it looks like in practice
Someone posts in your gaming channel at 8pm: "anyone up for something?" Someone
replies with /play sketchy-artists. The bot posts a link. Four people click
it. You're in a game in under a minute, without anyone having to DM a link or wait for a
browser tab to load.
Games that work well from Discord
Any game works, but these tend to be the most natural starting points for Discord sessions: Drawma (quick, any group size), Sketchy Artists (4–8 people, tight group), Contrails (big server events, up to 50 players).
The bot is free. The Space is free. Everything in Cotime is free.
